There are two main reasons for referrals to a specialist. The first is because you as the parent or caregiver feel there may be a concern. The second is because we are concerned there may be a problem that may require the help of a specialist.
Your concerns about your child's health are very important to us. Many times we will be able to reassure you about your concerns. If we are not able to answer your questions or alleviate your fears or concerns, we will recommend a specialist to help us resolve these concerns.
Every insurance plan has their policies on how referrals are handled. Our office is familiar with many of these policies, and will try to make the process as easy as possible for you. If we feel that a referral is needed immediately, we will try to help you get an appointment with the specialist before you leave the office.
